Aamena Bintul Huda
Amina Haider Al-Sadr, the famous Muslim author also known
as Bint Al-Huda who was born in 1938 in Kazimya, Iraq,
played a significant role in creating Islamic awareness
among the Muslim women of Iraq.
Bint-al-Huda considered story writing as a tool to be used
to revive Islamic concepts and values. She, tackled in her
stories women's issues of concern, at a time when love
stories and translated pornographic literature flooded our
Islamic world during the 1950's and 60's.
In 1979 when her brother Ayatullah Baqir Sadr was arrested
on the orders of Saddam, she brought masses people
togeather demanding his release, as a result of which he
was later released In 1980 Bint Al-Huda and her brother
were arrested. After three days of unimaginable torture,
they were murdered on 8th April on the orders of Saddam.
Today we lack such Muslim women writers to counter so many
secularist women writers in the Muslim world.
